USC Config - a. Installing

"USC Config 106" is a 32 bit Windows application used to configure the USC701. A COA703 provides an isolated connection between a USC701 and an RS232 serial port on a personal computer. USC Config 106 has been tested on Windows 95, 98, Me and 2000 (DOWNLOAD).

For older USC701 modules with internal software version 1.04 "USC Config 105" must be used. Although USC Config 105 will work with all versions of the USC701 module at the time of writing it is recommended that all new USC701 modules be programmed with version 106, as compatibility is not guaranteed.

When upgrading to "USC Config 106" you may leave versions 103 and 105 installed until you are satisfied that all existing programs have been exported to separate disk files and that they are working correctly with the new version. Please refer to section reasons to export data on how this is done.
When older USC Config programs are no longer required removal is via the Add/Remove utility in the windows control panel.

If you own older USC701 modules with internal software 1.04 then USC Config 105 should remain installed on your computer.

The "USC Config 106" is supplied on the APCS CD Catalogue or web site.

When installing from the CD-ROM the easiest method is to use a web browser and select "USC Centre" from the home page then "Software Downloads" on the "USC Centre" navigation bar. If a web browser is not installed on the PC then the appropriate install or patch programs are stored in "[CD-ROM]:\web\hlp\hlp0010" where [CD-ROM] is the drive letter in your system.

The base installation should be performed from this CD-ROM and will install into 'C:\Program Files\APCS\USC Config 106' on your hard drive. After the standard installation upgrades can be downloaded and added, as they are available on the web site.

To determine the revision of the program you are currently using use "Edit", "About" from the menu.
The first line of the information box will show
USC Config 106 Version 1.6.xx, where xx is the revision numbers.

If using Windows NT you may need to be logged on an administrator while installing to enable necessary authorization to use the COM port.
