You are most likely aware of the governments' new legislation affecting our industry. Although this new legislation is not yet well known or understood by many customers it remains an issue to be taken seriously. What is C-Tick?An identification trademark registered to the government authority (ACA) which indicates compliance with EMI (electromagnetic interference) standards. C-Tick covers only emission standards both conducted and radiated. From January 1999 nearly all electrical products must comply with the C-tick standards and must be labelled with the C-Tick mark. What is EMI?EMI is the unintended radio frequency emissions from electrical and electronic product that have the potential to interfere with the operation of other electrical products. What does the C-Tick legislation require? A manufacturer
must establish sound technical grounds for compliance. The manufacturer
must make a Declaration of Conformity (DOC) based on test report of sample,
batch manufacturing conditions, adequate quality control system and signature
of person with authority whom accepts personal responsibility. The manufacturer
must prepare a Compliance Folder (CF) or a Technical Construction File
(TCF) when the CF is not feasible or impractical. Finally the manufacturer
must label each product. What about CE marking? CE marking
(used in Europe) also covers immunity standards. Even if a product has
a CE mark it does not comply with the Australian C-Tick legislation. To
comply, the importer must create a compliance folder, a declaration of
conformity and label the product. Do APCS product comply with C-tick? Yes
- All products that are manufactured by or directly imported by APCS have
a compliance label that contains a C-Tick and an APCS logo. General ExclusionsAll product that are manufactured by or directly imported by APCS that contain only passive components such as the PR801 FLOW PROBE. This probe will not have a C-Tick label. APCS Compliance Method
