Signal Powered Isolator

APCS introduce the Signal Powered Isolator SPI232 which provides galvanic isolation to prevent common mode voltages or earth loop problems. Unlike traditional loop isolators the SPI232 is powered by the input signal and is made to suit dc current input versions with a zero offset (e.g. 4-20mA). Typical input/output configuration is 4-20mA to 4-20mA, but can be configured 4-20mA to 1-5V.

The SPI232 converts the input signals into an ac signal which is transferred to the output using a ferrite transformer. The transformer output is then rectified and load matched. A green L.E.D. located on the front of the module gives a clear indication of input signal and will change its intensity in relation to input signal level. Load trim adjustment (full scale) is conveniently placed on the modules front plate and zero tracking is automatic requiring no adjustment.

Due to its total width of only 22.5mm and the 35mm DIN-Rail mounting arrangement the SPI232 is ideal for nest mounting in field enclosures or as a space saver in larger control cabinets.
